Fully Abandoned

Our high school football team went to the State Championship for the very first time. It was held on December 18th in Cowboy stadium. What a fine arena! It was amazing the number of people cheering on their home teams! The sheer volume and roar of the excited fans was deafening.

As we sat next to the band and cheered in unison, "Plus 1" to the opposing side, I was taken aback. Everyone was cheering and excited. I didn't know the people we were sitting by but we all had a comraderie because we were unified in our common purpose. Look at our faces.

And I thought as I looked around at the forty plus thousand people around me, "Why do I hold back in my worship of the Lord, Jesus Christ?" "Why am I not fully abandoned as I was at the championship game?" "Are not the people around me my brothers and sisters in Christ and unified in our purpose?"

I'm still lingering on this today.

O come, let us sing for joy to the LORD,
Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving,
Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.
For the LORD is a great God
And a great King above all gods,
In whose hand are the depths of the earth,
The peaks of the mountains are His also.
The sea is His, for it was He who made it,
And His hands formed the dry land.
Come, let us worship and bow down,
Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.
For He is our God,
And we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.
